, in much of upstate new york, they've canceled preemptively the flights out of there for tomorrow and here's why. here is the big snow picture. kind of the snow sweet spot from cleveland through i-90 and in toward buffalo, rochester, syracuse, so it is all lifting to the north. the same storm that we have seen bring feet of snow elsewhere. so going a little bit closer, you can see very dark white is heavy snow, maybe 1, 2 inches an hour. and right along the lakefront, cleveland, erie, buffalo and points down. so i-86, i-90, i-80, i-80 tonight we'll watch the snow lift farther north and then driving perilous conditions tomorrow. really in upstate new york and western new york. and part of the problem is is that we thought thehave these i strong winds. right now indy gusting to 33 miles an hour. as far south as nashville, cleveland, as well, 32-mile-per-hour wind gusts. and that axis of winds is pushing into the northeast for upstate no, late tonight and really balance of tomorrow. in terms of the blizzard, there's the blizzard warning now. it's down to just a few counties. in north central

to outrage for thousands of handgun permit owners north of new york city when a newspaper published their names and addresses for an article called "the gun owner next door." cnn's brian todd is here with more details. really interesting story. >> it is really interesting, candy, and really it is the interactive map that has drawn such controversy. with a couple of clicks you can see who in the counties may have guns in their homes. and you can figure out when may not. it is a local new york city wit large circulation, they are saying that the gun control and the happening of newtown, connecticut are in the minds of this readers. so they published a map of where all handgun owners live. on the journal news website, all you have to do is zoom into a neighborhood and the locations of any gun permit holders will show up with red dots tap a dot, and the name and address of the permit holder pop up. the newspaper got the data by filing freedom of information requests with the clerks of the county. they do not indicate whether the residents own the guns just that they are legally able to.

. let's bring in our chief business correspondent ali velshi, joining us from new york. practically speaking, i'm not sure it does have a huge impact, although technically we're going over the cliff. >> sure, technically, we are going over the cliff. people have been asking me. what it means is, if it doesn't get fixed tomorrow or in the next couple of days, we are over the cliff. the issue is, do we hit an outcropping on the way down, or can we get a parachute and get rescued? bottom line, all the effects of the physical cliff do start. the only good news is tomorrow is a federal holiday. which means a lot of the actual mechanics of what is about to happen won't happen till wednesday. one of the biggest things, wolf, is markets will not open. they will not start trading until tuesday evening, our type, 8:00 p.m. after having 517 days to not get this done, they seem to have bought themselves another day. the bottom line is, yes, we're over the cliff. technically. if we remain over the cliff 24 hours from now or 48 hours from now when markets start to open in asia, then you're going

in new york and my wife told me there was a shooting and i rushed home. my wife was already in town. so far the newtown school system has been great in leaving automatic phone updates with the parents. >> a sad story. quick question before i let you go. at some point you will have to make a decision about letting your kids go back to sandy hook elementary school. what are you going to do? >> this is all so new. i have been talking to my kids and explaining this is what happened. you do your best to communicate with them and do your best to -- it's funny that a bomb hits and there is a lot of smoke and it's still here. i haven't had enough time to really plan, but hopefully by the time they go back to school, i will have done a good enough job of making them feel as comfortable as they can be. >> how is your wife doing? >> she is hanging in there. >> give all of them our love and sympathy and support. we wish them only the best. this is a parent of the kids from that sandy hook elementary school. the kids got out okay, but obviously 20 other children did not get out okay. 18 of them died

energy future, now. >>> ali joins us from new york. there are dramatic changes as far as the estate tax is concerned if we go over the fiscal cliff, if no legislation is passed between now and the end of the year, walk us through what the folks out there can expect. >> here's how it works, wolf. if a family members dies and leaves their estate not to their spouse. but to their decendents, their children or someone other than their children. the estate tax kicks in. here's what's happening this year. according to the independent tax policy center. a state center worth less than $5 million are exempt. the center estimates about 3600 people, families, estates will fall into that category this year. 2012. next year barring any congressional action, that exemption falls down to a million dollars, the rate you pay on that estate jumps up to between 41% and 55%. on top of that, there's a 5% tax on the portion of very large tax estates. the tax policy tenners estimates the number will jump from 2600 in 2012 to 53,000 in 2013. that's a huge increase from where we stand right now. as you know, so

legal analyst. he's joining us from new york. here's what the constitution, the second amendment says, you know this well. a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed. over the years, as you well know, jeffrey, this has gone through a lot of interpretations. most recently in 2008. >> very dramatically different interpretations. before 2008, for 100 years, that first clause, the so-called militia clause, was read by the supreme court and other courts to trump the right to keep and bear arms. that amendment was interpreted for decades as giving individuals no right to keep and bear arms. in 2008, that changed on a dime. the united states supreme court in a decision called hellar said that the second amendment gives individuals the right to keep and bear arms but what arms, where you get to keep them, that's still very much up for grabs. >> so what restricts are legal? >> well, let's start with what restricts we know are illegal. it is illegal now for a government, a local government or the

to get the leaders to be there. rudy giuliani led the people out of new york, that is the kind of leadership we need to do. today, i feel like we had those leaders doing something, that we need to gather as a country and help them take action. and all they're asking for is rationality. how many among us would say it is okay to have 100 rounds of clips in a banana, that is just not rationale, they're talking about people with the opportunity to take away massive, massive amounts of loss. and i think reasonable people will say that is something we can get behind. and thank you, president obama for being clear you are going to take action and you need our help. but it is not just about the guns. i tell you, on my program, we're getting deep with what to do about people and family members, people with mental illness that are out of control. there is woeful resources in our country, people cannot get conservativeship. there is no state hospital or structure. and i would say president obama please, please, there is so much more to be done here than just guns. and this is our opportun
